Our Favourite NBC, Showtime, and ABC TV Shows

I love each and everyone of those shows, but very often, I get people asking me if they should start watching one of them, and I find myself telling them that there’s no point, because unless you’ve been watching right from the start, you’re not going to enjoy/understand it.
So here is my perspective on how interesting these shows are to the viewers and my recommendations on whether or not to start watching them.

Ugly Betty
http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/uglybetty/index.html
Ugly Betty is now on Season 2 and in my opinion, it just keeps getting better with each episode. They’re also signing up new and exciting guests, making the show fresh and unique. In the past, they’ve had celebrities such as Vera Wang and Victoria Beckham, and they are making deals with Snoop Dogg and more for the future.
This is definitely one to keep watching, and if you haven’t started yet, then START!

Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives is onto its Fourth Season now . I started watching this in Season 2 and still religiously watch each new episode. Although they do frequently relate to previous episodes, which can be confusing if you didn’t see it, they alternate this with fresh new plots and twists for each episode, linking the old to the new.
This show will definitely keep doing well and welcomes its old viewers as well as the new.

Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl was a new show this season and did well enough to be signed on properly for more episodes. It is made by the same people that made the OC, and you can definitely see the similarities between the shows. However, sometimes the episodes can be a bit dull and boring, and can seem to drag on a bit. But I kept watching it and yesterday, when I watched the latest one, it didn’t seem so bad after all.
It’s worth it to give it a go, some love it and some hate it, after all. But I do happen to know that it isn’t loved amongst the men!

Private Practice
http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/privatepractice/index
Private Practice is the spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy, and is on its First Season. My main comment about Private Practice is about the way in which it differs from other medical dramas. Instead of being set in the middle of a hospital, it is set in a private clinic, and this brings a whole new approach to the plots and the characters.
This show is slowly starting to improve and is almost at the standard of Grey’s Anatomy. Definitely one to watch if you’re a fan of medical dramas.

Samantha Who
http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/samanthawho/index
Samantha Who? is another new show this season and has Christina Applegate as the main star. I think this is a brilliant show, the whole idea of it is different from the usual series that are out there, and Applegate really brings the main character to life.
Although this may be considered a ‘girly’ show, I happen to know many guys out there who watch this comedy away from the mocking of their more ‘macho’ friends.

Grey’s Anatomy
http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/greysanatomy/index
Grey’s Anatomy is now on Season Four and is continuing to do well. It used to be one of my favourite shows, but this season it has lost my interest slightly, as the plots become slightly more predictable and the cliff hangers aren’t as good as in the previous seasons.
Nevertheless, still a good show to continue watching, although if you’re new to it, there may be others out there that catch your interest more.

Weeds

As soon as I started to watch Weeds, I was hooked. The characters are easily likeable and the plots are funny, interesting, and contain just the right amount of twists. It is on its third season and I hope it continues for much longer.
This show is definitely one to keep watching, and also one to start watching if you haven’t already done so.

Prison Break
http://www.fox.com/prisonbreak/
Prison Break is on Season Three, and although it really seemed to be far less interesting in the second season, it’s picked up so much and the mid-season finale last week was one of the best episodes I’ve seen.
This is a show that is very unique, and has an extremely clever storyline, and is definitely a show that can be enjoyed by a large marjority of people.

Scrubs
http://www.nbc.com/Scrubs/
Scrubs…onto its Seventh Season and I must say that it’s starting to lose my interest a bit. The strange antics that the characters get up to doesn’t seem to ‘go’ as well anymore with the whole theme of the show, especially as the characters are maturing and developing. It just makes the show seem quite unrealistic.
Still, Scrubs is funny and because it’s not a show in which you have to watch all the episodes in order, you can enjoy it at your own leisure.

Lost
http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/lost/
To be honest, I don’t know much about Lost anymore. I watched the first episode of the third season, after watching every episode of the first two, and I was really disappointed. The storylines never seem to be completed and each episode provides more questions than it does answers.
Unless you’ve been watching this show meticulously, you will probably be confused and give up on it like I did.
