Manolo Blahnik Receives Honourary CBE From The Queen

Manolo Sketch

Manolo Blahnik is a world famous fashion designer, who opened up his first shop in 1973 in Chelsea. He is most famous for his shoes, which usually come with stiletto heels and other embellishments. His place in pop culture was cemented, after his shoes were named so often on the popular TV show Sex and the City, and he was even said to be the “fifth star” of the show, as he was mentioned so frequently.

At a ceremony last week, Manolo Blahnik was recognised by the Queen, and he received an Honourary CBE (Commander of the British Empire).  The award was given in recognition of his status as one of the most successful and influential designers of our time.

Manolo Blahnik was praised for having products that were so synonymous with his name, and for creating shoes that were timeless classics with modern twists.

I think that it is great how Manolo Blahnik got recognised for his designs. Some may find it unconventional that he received a CBE, but now he can stand as a role model for people, showing them that you can do anything you want in life, and if you do it well, you will be rightly recognised.
