I bought Need For Speed Prostreet for my Wii yesterday, the day it came out in London. To be honest, I haven’t played it that much yet, but thought I would write this anyway because I’m sure there are a lot of people out there now wanting to know what it’s like before they buy it – once I finish it, it might be too late.
If you’ve played and enjoyed the previous Need For Speed games, such as Most Wanted and Carbon, and liked the way it was set on the streets and not on tracks, you should definitely not buy this game. Every single race in this game is set on race tracks, I’ve only played a few races and I already find it quite monotonous.
The controls are average, you use the single wii remote and steer it left or right. It takes some getting used to if you’re used to racing games on more common remotes (such as Xbox, which was what I was more familiar with), but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite fun to move the remote to steer. The sensitivity is about right, but it just feels really slow and heavy when you’re turning a corner with your car. The speed and fast graphics are missing.
The graphics otherwise are ok, it might just be the screen I’m playing it on but it seemed quite dull to me so I had to make the screen much brighter and increase the colour, something I never do for any other game. When I played Wii Sports after, the screen colours looked so distorted, so I’m not sure why I had to change them to make Need For Speed better.
The game retails in the UK for £30, which is quite cheap for a new game that has just come out, which should have already given me some indication of the lack of quality compared to previous Need For Speed games.
In my opinion, I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone, unless you don’t mind everything I’ve said above. For an average racing game, it’s ok…but it’s Need For Speed, and in my mind, I expected something more.

Don’t buy this game! This is just an other example of corporate greed. All the good cars are locked up until you go through outrageous circumstances or pay extra money $$$ to unlock the car that you want. Why should you pay for the game twice. Even new shooter games are going to make you pay for ammo. This is crap and the gamer community needs to fight back.

[...] made from each are quite different in a lot of ways. A great way to describe this is written in my Review of Need For Speed ProStreet for the Wii. Just look at the section on the gameplay with the Wii remote, which I found to be quite lacking. [...]
